As much as it pains me to say it, a huge rash of splog sign-ups has forced me to close down new user registrations here at Azeroth .ME.

This is very disappointing, but until WordPress MU gets its act together and fixes its “ban blog registration by domain” feature, I’m afraid we’ll be all closed doors.

Those of you (real people) who wish to obtain a blog may do so by posting here with the username and blog domain you desire. Make sure to fill your correct email address in the email field, too, and I’ll fix you up from this end.

v0.2: Themes, Plug-ins and Bugs (Oh My)

Well, v0.2 of the site is out and running. The main feature here has been the layout of the main site (well, in Firefox; IE backwards-compatibility coming soon), as well as cleaning up a couple of back-end issues.

Themes

The next major feature on the agenda is the addition of some nicer user themes. At the moment the only thing available is Kubrick (a.k.a. the default WordPress theme) which isn’t very exiciting. However, Azeroth .ME does support user CSS overrides for theme customization, so you’re not completely stuck.

In addition to creating some themes, we’re also looking for clever people out there to donate themes to the site, should they feel so inclined. The only stipulation is that the themes be semantic XHTML/CSS and that they are only available for use on Azeroth .ME (i.e. they cannot be redistributed for download elsewhere). Creators of the chosen themes will be given full credit, as well as an upgraded Azeroth .ME account, if applicable (exact details TBA). Plug-ins

Yes, we have them! The plug-ins currently available for users to activate include:

Akismet spam protection;
Google Analytics integration;
Lightbox 2;
Threaded comments and comment reply notifications;
Twitter integration;
Flickr integration;
… and more!

It’s a sad truth; there are going to be bugs. If you find any, please let us know, either in the comments to this post or via bugs@azeroth.me.

Layout v0.1

The first iteration of the main site’s layout is here, bringing us one step closer to release; hooray!

There are still some parts that need work (the post page, for instance), and at the moment it looks pretty terrible in IE, but such is life I suppose…

There also seems to be a bug disallowing images being inserted into posts. Damn your eyes, Apache mod_security.
